How to celebrate today's solstice

Jun 21, 2022

Today is the solstice. In the northern hemisphere it is the first day of summer, and in the southern hemisphere it is the first day of winter.

Seasonal beginnings are a great time to assess who you were in the last season, who you are today, and who you are becoming in the new season.

I love asking myself these questions regularly, because they help me get centered and grounded in who I am, and they help me make decisions based on my authenticity.

To celebrate the Solstice, set aside an hour or so this week to journal about the following questions. You can also pull oracle or Tarot cards for each of the questions.

  1. Think about the season that is ending. What were some of the highlights and lowlights of this season? What have you learned? What theme was most present in your life?
  2. Think about yourself today, at the beginning of the new season. What is coming up in your life right now? What have you been thinking about? How are you feeling?
  3. Think about the coming season. What do you know is happening? What's already on the calendar? What do you wish was on the calendar but isn't there yet? How do you most want to feel this season?
  4. Think about summers or winters from the past. Knowing yourself, what physical, emotional, and spiritual support do you need for this season? Make sure to add this support to your life!

After you finish writing, take a few deep breaths. May this coming season be a journey filled with peace and joy and wonder.

P.S. The first class of Summer of Enchanted Writing is this Thursday. We'll be doing a Solstice Intention Setting Ritual, and diving deep into who you were, who you are, and who you are becoming as a writer. I'd love to see you there! Join today. :)
